This online Working Group 2 meeting will examine the interception of a civilian vessel involved in a maritime solidarity mission to Gaza and the arrest and detention of humanitarian personnel on board. Participants will be joined by Francesca Cancellaro, lawyer representing several members of the Flotilla crew, for an open and informal discussion on what happened, the legal avenues pursued, and the broader implications for international maritime law, human rights defenders, freedom of navigation, accountability, and the criminalisation of humanitarian action at sea in contexts of conflict and blockade.
